GRANTS

XRP
H2Electro received a grant from the XRP Ledger Foundation to develop the technology.
Grant amount: €190,000

RUP - the program for applied research:
Project: Development of a scalable high-temperature electrolyser single cell production methodology with AC:DC operation.
Grant amount: €1,768,520
Content: H2Electro (Estonia) and DynElectro (Denmark) are hydrogen deep technology start-ups, both developing complementary technologies that will largely help eliminate the degradation that currently limits the lifetime of solid oxide electrolysis cells. The goal of the RUP project is that H2Electro’s and DynElectro’s technologies limit the cell voltage increase to 0.5% within 1000 hours at 0.5A/cm2.

SEKMO - Cross-Sectoral Mobility Measure
Project: Solid oxide electrolysis cell stack design and production-ready implementation (T1, Energy)
Grant amount: €49,050.96
Content: This project supports H2Electro’s broader goal of making hydrogen production greener using solid oxide electrolysers. The project will develop a ground-breaking stack design using state-of-the-art modeling techniques and electrochemical experiments. The innovative stack design increases it’s efficiency, durability and sustainability thereby significantly reducing the CO2 and SOx emissions from hydrogen production.

KIK - Support for the development of green technologies
Project: Manufacturing Highly Efficient and Stable Fuel Cells
Grant amount: €200,279.80
Content: H2Electro is advancing the development of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) compatible with fuels like hydrogen, natural gas, biogas, and alcohol-based fuels. The cells feature highly durable ceramic electrodes that resist impurities, reducing fuel purification requirements and extending the system’s lifespan. The project aims to lower CO₂ emissions and enhance energy production efficiency, aligning with sustainability goals. The objective is to reach Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5, moving closer to large-scale industrial production. RUP - Grant for knowledge-intensive activities of Ida-Viru enterprises
Project: Development of a prototype electrolyser for CO₂ and H₂O co-electrolysis in Ida-Virumaa
Grant amount 1 642 928.46
Content: Enefit Solutions and H2Electro are jointly developing a 10 kW solid oxide electrolysis system prototype capable of both steam electrolysis and co-electrolysis of CO₂ and H₂O. H2Electro provides the critical high-efficiency, redox-stable cells and stacks, while Enefit Solutions focuses on system integration and testing. The goal is to validate a highly efficient technology for industrial-scale hydrogen and syngas production, advancing it closer to market readiness.(https://eis.ee/en/grants/grant-for-knowledge-intensive-activities-of-ida-viru-enterprises/)
